| Bio: | I'm an Angeleno born and raised - a real, live valychik and child of the canyons. I went to school at Wonderland Magnet Elementary, which is probably where that obsession with Alice started. After high school at Notre Dame, I moseyed (sp?) on over to Austin for college, good eats, amazing music, and a true bohemian lifestyle. Lived in Granada, Spain for a semester and had the time of my life. Next came San Fran and a short stint on Haight Street, followed by my trek back to de valle where I joined Teach For America and taught in Atwater Village while earning my credential. I've been going for my MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College since '05 and will be teaching 5th grade at Curtis School beginning this fall. I'm working on a couple young adult novels, some short stories and picture books right now, have a terrific critique group, and am involved in SCBWI. But, man, is this writing stuff tough! I am in awe of my fellow VC mates and alums whose prose seem to flow so effortlessly! My dream is to be published and continue teaching at the same time. Meanwhile, it's all about Butt In Chair. And a little bit 'o fun now and then. |
